Those that know me and know me well, will tell you that i can be rather ecclectic in my tastes. That goes for reading as well. So it comes as no suprise that i'm currently reading Hannibal. I urge you to read the other books in the trilogy first (
Red Dragon,
Silence of the Lambs) before picking this one up. The tale follows on from Silence, where Dr Hannibal the Cannibal is on the run after escaping from a "secure" institute in middle America. This is rather a different format to the previous 2 books, the story takes us to Italy before returning back to America which can be seen as slightly confusing to some. I don't think this book has the pace or excitement that Silence had, but then this is a slightly different format: the FBI aren't looking for a mysterious serial killer, they're looking for a man on the run. It is a fitting conclusion to an otherwise gripping thriller, but i didn't like having to wade through the frankly rubbish section in Florence.
