Hannibal by Thomas Harris
Those that know me and know me well, will tell you that i can be rather ecclectic in my tastes. That goes for reading as well. So it comes as no suprise that i'm currently reading Hannibal. I urge you to read the other books in the trilogy first (Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs) before picking this one up. The tale follows on from Silence, where Dr Hannibal the Cannibal is on the run after escaping from a "secure" institute in middle America. This is rather a different format to the previous 2 books, the story takes us to Italy before returning back to America which can be seen as slightly confusing to some. I don't think this book has the pace or excitement that Silence had, but then this is a slightly different format: the FBI aren't looking for a mysterious serial killer, they're looking for a man on the run. It is a fitting conclusion to an otherwise gripping thriller, but i didn't like having to wade through the frankly rubbish section in Florence.
